Post & Beam
Canada's Log People builds a variety of styles of log posts + beam construction. The whole building can be built using post + beam or only a small area such as an entry roof to give a standard stick frame home some additional character.
Round or square, either way, we can build it. The squared off posts and beams add another dimension to your home. All the joinery is mortise & tenon together, with or without wood pegs. Our highly skilled log home builders can put together an equally impressive timber frame as any dedicated timber frame company.
Canada's Log People can work with you to build a log home hybrid with a more conventional home construction method. A few logs placed on the top and bottom of the walls make this a hybrid between a full stacked log home and a post & beam style home.
We offer the dovetail style construction with flat walls or round logs.
Canada's Log People employs many different concepts and designs for Truss Design. Sometimes designed for function and sometimes for style, you can rest assure that Canada's Log Peopls will build your log home to be sturdy and strong.
Enhance your conventional home with the added feature of log accents.
Often neglected as part of a home design, a staircase can be as simple as you want it to be, but it can also be the showpiece of your home. Here are a few examples of the log home staircases built by Canada's Log People in the past.
Indoors or Outdoors, railings are an important part of any log home. Not simply a functional piece, railings serve to complement the style of your log home and providing an elegent, yet rustic finish to an already beautiful log design.
What better way to personalize your log home than with a unique carving built directly into your home? Canada's Log People has numerous examples of how art and construction collide in the personalization of their log homes.
Not all logs are straight and true, but that doesn't mean they cant make for a unique design feature in your home. Take a look at our gallery of Character Logs for some design ideas.
Skip Peeled Logs
Canada's Log People can build your home with skip peeled logs to give it a unique look. Our gallery of Skip Peeled Log homes can be found here.

How to choose the right species of wood.
Let’s focus on the bread and butter of our operation: the type of wood that we use to create our log homes.
Our homes are built primarily with Engelmann Spruce, Douglas Fir and Lodgepole Pine, although we use Western Red Cedar on occasion. Which one is the right one for you?
At Canada’s Log People, Inc., we do not choose the cheapest, lightest, or most readily available type of wood. Over the past thirty years of work in the timber industry, we have focused on using only the highest quality of all our wood species. With all of these striking and unique types of timber to choose from, we hope you will consider Canada’s Log People as your only choice when it comes to building the home of your dreams.
Choosing the species of tree for your log home can be as important as your floor plan or any other design. Not all species of tree have the same characteristics, so your decision can be based just as much on visual preferences as it is on the needs of your environment.
We encourage you to call us and find out more about what we do. If you would like, we will get you in contact with one of our customers. Our clients take as much pride in the timber of their log homes as we do.
A large tree, reaching heights of 85 metres on the coast and 42 metres in the Interior. Older trees have a long, branch-free trunk and a short cylindrical crown with a flattened top.
Canada's Log People build homes out of Engelmann Spruce, a straight tree that can grow to 50 metres tall. The Engelmann Spruce is a species of spruce native to western North America, including central BC.
Canada's Log People use Lodgepole Pine, a tall, slender, straight tree which grows throughout most of the Interior and is excellent for the construction of Log Homes.
Western Red Cedar
A large tree, up to 60 metres tall when mature, with drooping branches; trunk often spreading out widely at the base. The Western Red Cedar is an excellent choice for the construction of your custom Log Home.
